Pre-requisite: Step Two: Skills Consolidation
Coaches: Sherry Dolan & John Moore
Three classes of 1.5 hours each.
In a small group of 4 people you will continue to develop your rowing skills, and acquire new knowledge to help you feel comfortable in a racing shell. There will be a focus on body and boat movements with emphasis on good posture to prevent injury and help with boat balance.
The three sessions focus on developing your foundational boat handling and rowing skills covering the entry, drive, release and recovery. You will be practicing in both racing singles and doubles.
There will be a strong focus on safety as it pertains to rowing in a racing shell along the Ottawa River.
At the end of Step 3 you will be well acquainted with the ONEC racing shell fleet. You will be placed with a rowing mentor who will continue to help you develop your skills until you are ready to take the skills assessment required to book the racing shells at ONEC.

Sherry Dolan is a long time member of ONEC Rowing. She is currently working towards her Learn to Row and RCA Coach certification. She has many years of experience in coaching rowing both at the Ottawa Rowing Club and ONEC Rowing.
Sherry can often be found down at the waterfront enjoying a social row along the river with other members. She likes to bring a fun and relaxed atmosphere to her coaching sessions while using a variety of rowing drills to help with skill development.
John Moore started his rowing career as a Novice rower at the University of Guelph and later went on to row with the University of Toronto crew. Along the way he attended many regattas including the Ontario University Rowing Championships on Henley Island in St. Catharines.
More recently John took up the rowing again at ONEC where he learned how to scull with his new rowing & now coaching partner Sherry Dolan.
He is currently working towards his Learn to Row and RCA Coach certification.
